Chechen President nominates candidate for new Prime Minister

Moscow, Mar 8 (UNI) Newly-elected Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov today nominated First Deputy Prime Minister Odes Baisultanov for Prime Ministership of the Russia's war-troubled North Caucasus republic.

Mr Baisultanov was in charge of the rebuilding of Chechen capital Grozny's airport, where regular flights from here resumed today, and reconstruction efforts in the capital.

''Baisultanov has been given the most difficult tasks and fulfilled them on time and with a lot of skill since he became First Deputy Prime Minister last year,'' RIA Novosti news agency quoted Kadyrov as saying.

Mr Baisultanov's nomination is expected to be approved by the regional paraliment, in the next few days.

Russian President nominated Kadyrov for Chechen President on March 1 and the republic's parliament approved his nomination the next day.

Military-aid to Pakistan if it fights terrorism successfully

Washington, Mar 8 (UNI) Three leading Democrats have introduced a legislation in the US Senate which seeks to link future military-aid to Pakistan to its progress in combating terrorism within its borders. Towels with Indian tricolour removed from market amid massive uproar

Dubai, Mar 8 (UNI) Uproar among the Indian community in the UAE over bath towels bearing the image of India's national flag has led Unilever Arabia to withdraw all such towels from the local market. An objection was also raised by the Indian Consulate which asked the company to withdraw the promotional product with immediate effect. Musharraf appoints new Strategic Force Command chief

Islamabad, Mar 8 (UNI) Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has appointed Major General Syed Absar Hussain as the Commander of the Strategic Forces Command (SFC) and promoted him to the rank of Lieutenant General.
