Buddhist special train to commence journey from March 28

New Delhi, Mar 8 (UNI) A fully air-conditioned train, equipped with on-board/off-board catering and house keeping arrangements, road transfer by AC vehicles, sightseeing and visit to holy places, will run as 'Maha Parinirvan Special' from March 28, covering important Buddhist places.

In a written reply today in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Railways R Velu said the train would cover Lumbini, Sarnath, Bodhgaya, Kushinagar, Nalanda, Sravasti and also the Taj Mahal and Fatehpur Sikri in Agra.

Indian Railway Tourism&Catering Corporation (IRCTC) has planned to run 11 trips during this year and another six in 2008 up to March (depending on its reception) with each trip having a duration of 8 days.

The option of undertaking partial journey for a minimum duration of 3 nights is also available to the passengers.

For its successful run, IRCTC has made all-out efforts for marketing, wide publicity and enquiry redressel system.

UPA committed to women's empowerment: PM

New Delhi, Mar 8 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today said the government will try to build a broad consensus and bring in the Women's Reservation Bill as soon as possible. India has no Pakistan-specific no-tariff barriers: Pranab

New Delhi, Mar 8 (UNI) India today said it did not have in force any Pakistan-specific no-tariff barrier and hence there was no justification in denial of Most Favoured Nation(MFN) treatment to it by Pakistan. Pakistan should fulfil its obligations under the WTO and extend the MFN treatment to India, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee said. Women's Reservartion Bill be taken up within UPA term span: Dasmunsi

New Delhi, Mar 8 (UNI) The UPA government announced that Women's Reservation Bill will be taken up ''before the expiry of its term'' as several women members, cutting across party lines, sought passage of the Bill on the International Women's Day today.
