Blood vessels blockade leads to pain in legs: Expert

Jalandhar, Mar 8 (UNI) If pain persists in the leg for long, go for blood pressure check up, suggested cardiologist Dr Michel Henry of France saying it could be due to blood vessels blockade.

Dr Henry, a pioneer of peripheral intervention, a therapy related to opening of leg vessels by a specialised technique without surgery called Endo-Vascular Therapy, was here yesterday to guide a team of doctors from Oxford Hospital in a special event of medical practice.

Dr Henry said,''With this technique, patients, who have leg ulcers due to lack of blood supply responds dramatically and this precedure prevents leg amputation.'' ''This therapy is very important for a country like India, where diabetes is rampant and patients suffer from hypertension for long,'' he said.

This technique could also be applied to patients suffering from uncontrolled blood pressure and kidney failure due to blocking of kidney arteries, he said.

He suggested the need to check blood vessels not only of heart but also outside the heart.
