ACs may generate heat for illegal users this summer

New Delhi, Mar 8 (UNI) Residents of government houses in the capital enjoying the cool of air conditoners may soon face the heat as the authorities will crack down on those using the device without sanctioned loads.

Union Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy told the Rajya Sabha during the Question Hour today that the government would take action against illegal connections.

''It is fraught with danger,'' said the Minister.

He said though a very small number of government houses had installed air conditioners, even those were without the sanctioned load.

Before sanctioning the load, the equipment needed upgradation and power supply enhanced, he said.

He, however, said no survey of the houses has been made.

Govt. to convene NDC meeting soon to tackle inflation: PM

New Delhi, Mar 8 (UNI) Expressing concern over runaway inflation, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today announced that the Centre would soon convene a meeting of the National Development Council (NDC) to devise strategies in consultation with states to check agricultural stagnation and inflationary trends. Lok Sabha takes up discussion on Railway Budget

New Delhi, Mar 8 (UNI) The Lok Sabha today took up the discussion on the Railway Budget, 2007-08, after it was introduced in the House by Minister of State for Railways R Velu.
