13 of 200 apprentice teachers arrested for picketing

Machilipatnam, Mar 8 (UNI) Police today arrested 13 teachers, including the seceretary of the union when about 200 of them picketed the Krishna District Collector's Office, demanding abolition of apprenticeship.

They also demanded that the Andhra Pradesh government should sanction increments to apprentice teachers and extend all facilities as per G.O No 330 for language teachers.

AP to set up more gas filling stations

Hyderabad, Mar 8 (UNI) Admitting lakhs of vehicles were plying on cooking gas in Andhra Pradesh, Civil Supplies Minister N Raghuveera Reddy today said more filling stations would be set up in the state. Replying to questions from Mr M Chandrasekhar Reddy and other Congress members, the Minister said three LNG gas filling stations were being set up in Krishna District and one each in Kakinada, Rajahmundry and Suryapet. Medico killed in road accident

Eluru, Mar 8 (UNI) A medico was killed on the spot and an other seriously injured when a speeding lorry in which they were travelling hit a two-wheeler on Chennai-Kolkata national highway near Aashram Medical College. According to police the duo, Chandra Sekhar and Ramachandra Reddy from Vijayawada were studying third year, MBBS in Aashram Medical College. The lorry, proceeding from Tadepalligudem hit the motorcycle while they were going to college. The deceased was identified as E Chandra Sekhar.....

SP releases second candidates list for UP assembly polls

Lucknow, Mar 13(UNI) The Samajwadi Party today released the names its second list containing 23 candidates for the first phase of elections in 62 assembly constituencies in Uttar Pradesh scheduled to be held on April 7. In the first list of 58 candidates, released earlier this month, the party had announced 37 party candidates for the first phase and 21 for the second phase of theassembly polls.
