10-years-RI to 3 for rape

New Delhi, Mar 8 (UNI) A local court today sentenced three persons to ten-years rigorous imprisonment(RI) each for gangraping a pregnant woman in 2002.

ASJ N P Kaushik also imposed a fine of Rs 10000 each on the convicts identified as Pramod, Ramdhan and Harbansh.

The woman had been gangraped by seven people. The four others have been identified as juveniles and are facing charges in a trial court.

Amendment of Motor Vehicle Act approved

New Delhi, Mar 1 (UNI) The government today approved the Amendments to the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 that would remove ambiguities and difficulties in the enforcement of the provisions in the Act. 108 wild monkeys shifted to new habitat

New Delhi, Mar 8 (UNI) The Municipal authorities today submitted before the Delhi High Court that at least 108 wild monkeys had been trapped and released at a new habitat in the south of the Capital. Appearing before a bench of Justice Swatanter Kumar and Justice HR Malhotra, the MCD Counsel said these monkeys had been released after a health check-up at the 100-acre natural habitat at Bhatti mines in the southern part of the national capital. HC to hear MCD election petition on Monday

New Delhi, Mar 8 (UNI) The Delhi High Court today said it would hear on Monday a petition which challenged the Single Bench order directing the state government to re-notify the report of the Delimitation Commission with newly demarcated reserved constituencies for the civic body election to be held on April five. New Delhi, Mar 1 (UNI) The government would seek to get the Communal Violence (Prevention, Control and Rehabilitation of Victims) Bill, 2005 passed in the ongoing Budget session of Parliament, Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi said today. Ban on carrying firearms in Delhi till April 9

New Delhi, Mar 8 (UNI) In view of the upcoming polls to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi on April 5, the carrying of firearms, swords and other weapons has been banned in the capital till April 9. According to an order issued by Delhi Police Commissioner K K Paul, carrying of firearms (including licensed firearms), cudgels, swords, spears, bludgeons, knives, sticks or 'lathis' in any public place within the Union Territory of Delhi has been banned with immediate effect till April.....
