TMMK activists demand reservation for Muslims

New Delhi, Mar 7 (UNI) Activists of the Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam (TMMK) today held a protest rally, demanding reservation for Muslims in educational institutions and employment opportunities in Central as well as State government departments.

The TMMK workers were joined by activists of other organisations, including All India United Muslim Morcha and the Dalit Muslim Liberation Movement.

The rally commenced at Ramlila Ground and proceeded towards Jantar Mantar where it was stopped as prohibitory orders are in place.

The demonstrators were demanding implementation of the recommendations of the Sachar Committee report.

DDA holds draw of lots for allotment under Rohini Residential Sc

New Delhi, Mar 7 (UNI) The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) today held computerised draw of lots for allotment of 469 specific residential plots under the Rohini Residential Scheme. Allotments were made to 85 MIG registrants and 384 LIG registrants under the Scheme. After this draw priority numbers up to 11,221 under LIG General category, up to 22,603 under retired person 2004 list and up to 14,510 under ex-serviceman category were covered. Hubbard awarded life time award

New Delhi, Mar 7 (UNI) American humanitarian and philosopher late L Ron Hubbard, founder of Scientology, was today conferred with this year's Srishti awards' Life Time Achievement Award. The award was received by his representative Ms Jetmira Kurti at the presentation ceremony. Hubbard, the first foreigner to be conferred with the award, was selected for the honour for being a catalyst between Indian spiritual philosophy and western science and culture. UNI.....

Thrissur, Kerala, Mar 7 (UNI) Manorama News Channel Director Johny Lukos has been selected for this year's K V Daniel Memorial Award for his overall contribution to journalism.
