Taj on terror radar, security upgraded: DG CISF

New Delhi, Mar 7 (UNI) Security at the Taj Mahal in Agra has been upgraded after intelligence inputs pointed to a threat to one of the seven wonders of the world.

Coordination with the local police and other security agencies was also being done to provide a foolproof system to ward off any danger to the historic monument, Central Industrial Security Force Director General S I S Ahmed told mediapersons today.

''Security from the Yamuna side was also being fortified to prevent any chinks in the system and safeguard the Taj Mahal from any likely attack. Special steps have been taken after intelligence reports indicated of a likely attack on it.'' In view of the Taj Mahal coming in the 'high sensitive installations' category like that of the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Kalapakkam Power Station, Narora Atomic Power Centre, several other unique steps, besides the regular CCTVs, suspect monitoring, frisking and metal detectors, have also been initiated which are regularly being upgraded, he added.

Apang asks for one-time debt waiver for Arunachal

Delhi to celebrate 150th anniversary of First War of Independence

New Delhi, Mar 7 (UNI) Delhi government will organise various programmes in the national capital to celebrate the 150th anniversary of 1857 First War of Independence. Apart from providing support to a 'march' from Meerut to Delhi, it was decided to organise various events starting from May this year. The finale would be held in May 2008. 45 dog squads for manning airports soon: DG CISF

New Delhi, Mar 7 (UNI) Forty-five dog squads would soon be set up to lend teeth to security at the nearly 60 airports across the country being looked after by the Central Industrial Security Force. ''While presently 52 airports are already under us, eight others would shortly come to us, and for effective manning of them 45 dog squads have been sanctioned,'' CISF Director General S I S Ahmed told mediapersons.
