Rs 227 crore relief-to 2005 quake victims in Kupwara

Srinagar, Mar 7 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir has allocated a sum of Rs 227.47 crore as relief-to the tremor-affected families of 2005 an official spokesman said today.

A relief of Rs 123 crore was sanctioned against 66882 partially-damaged structures, while Rs 35.80 crore were distributed in favour of 8952 families whose houses were completely destructed in the earthquake, the spokesman said.

Another Rs 26 crore were provided for the construction of sheds, he added.

He said under second and third instalment, 6766 victims were provided relief to the tune of Rs 40 crore.

A meeting was held recently to discuss the land acquisition cases, under Roshni Act and other revenue-related matters, the spokesman said .

Rajasthan House adjourned over water pact with Punjab

Jaipur, Mar 7 (UNI) Rajasthan Assembly was adjourned four times today after unruly scenes were witnessed over water sharing agreement with Punjab. Harkat Chief among two militants killed in Kashmir

Srinagar, Mar 7 (UNI) A self-styled chief of Harkat-ul-Mujahideen (HuM) and another militant were killed in a fierce encounter with security forces in north Kashmir early this morning, a senior police officer said.
