Reshuffle in Gujarat Police

Gandhinagar, Mar 7 (UNI) In a reshuffle in the Gujarat Police, Mr Rajnish Rai, who was SP (intelligence) at Surat, has been promoted as DIG and posted in the CID Crime, Gandhinagar.

Four other police officers have been transferred. Mr N K Amin, DySP, SC/ST cell Godhra, has been transferred to CID Crime, Ahmedabad, an official release said.

Mr T V Pargi, DySP CID Crime, Gandhinagar, has been sent to Veraval as subdivisional police officer (SDPO), while J D Zala, DySP, CID Intelligence, Gandhinagar has been transferred to Dholka as a SDPO in place of Mr T N Thakor who will take over as Assistant Director with the Anti Corruption Bureau, Rajkot.

Civic engineer manhandled by corporator

Kolhapur, Mar 7 (UNI) A civic engineer was today manhandled by a corporator who was allegedly enraged that a drinking water project in his ward had been started without hosting any official function. The corporator, Suresh Dhonukshe, was allegedly angry that Kolhapur Municipal Corporation water supply department engineer Sharad Ghatge had started the project without any fanfare thereby depriving the former of any credit for the project. Mr Dhonukshe had earlier expressed a desire that a function should be hosted to.....

Forest officials seizes wood worth RS 2.5 lakh, arrests four

Kolhapur, Mar 8 (UNI) Four persons were arrested for transporting illegally 40 tonnes wood, worth Rs 2.5 lakh, in Jawaharnagar suburb in the city today. On a tip-off that 'hirda' (a particular tree wood) was being brought here illegally from Pune, forest officials with the help of police impounded two trucks carrying the wood, offical sources said. Those arrested have been identified as - Ndyandev Vhanaji Kolap, Laxman Dhule, Santosh Gholap all from Ambejogai and Sushant Datta Kadam from Jawaharnagar, sources.....

Rs 3 lakh worth goods gutted at Naroda factory

Ahmedabad, Mar 08 (UNI) Fire broke out in a factory 'Chirag Landswork' at Amarnath Estate in Naroda, near Memco, in the city at 4.52 am today. Goods worth Rs 3 lakhs were gutted Fire brigage sources said materials like cotton, plastics and machinery were gutted and the cause of the fire is said to be short-circuit. It took two hours to bring the fire under control, sources said. UNI.....
