One killed in farmers clash in Haryana

Yamunanagar, Mar 7 (UNI) One person was killed and another injured following a clash between two groups of farmers in Jhathlana village in the district today, police here said.

According to the police, the clash occured over a 15-acre plot of agricultural land, with two parties laying claim on it. They used sharp edged weapons and lathis and fired a few shots in the air.

The deceased was identified as Harjinder Singh, while the injured was Lakhbir Singh, who had been admitted to a local hospital. The police recovered two rifles, a countrymade pistol and a few lathis from the village after the clash.

A criminal case has been registered in this connection, but no arrests had been made so far, the police added.

Rumour of bomb in DRM's saloon

Haryana gives Rs 55 cr compensation to farmers

Chandigarh, Feb 24 (UNI) The Haryana government has provided a sum of Rs 55 crore to the farmers of three districts of Ambala, Yamunanagar and Kurukshetra as compensation for acquiring their land for construction of Shahbad Dadupur Nalvi Canal. Punjab, PSEB issued notices over free power to some

Chandigarh, Mar 7 (UNI) Punjab and Haryana High Court today issued notice to the Punjab government and Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) for April 18 on a PIL challenging their decision to provide free power to some sections of the society.
