Noisy scenes in HP Assembly

Shimla, Mar 7 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh Assembly today witnessed noisy scenes with the opposition BJP members resorting to slogan shouting against the state government in the House during the Question Hour.

As soon as the Question Hour began, Mohinder Singh (BJP) demanded discussion on corruption, based on BJP charge sheet, referring to the adjournment motion notice sent by BJP members to Speaker Gangu Ram Musafir.

On this, the Speaker said he had rejected the notices for adjournment motion.

The Question Hour continued, even as the BJP members got up from their seats and raised loud slogans against the state government.

After some time, all the BJP members left the House.

They, however, returned to the House, after the Question Hour was over.

State Parliamentary Affairs minister Kaul Singh Thakur condemned the opposition members for their behaviour, which he said has against the established rules.

He said the BJP was baffled over the pro-people budget presented by Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and was trying to mislead the people of the state.

He said during the last two years, jobs have been provided to 16,848 Himachalis and 4,198 non Himachalis.

Referring to district wise investment in the state, he said Bilaspur had attracted a sum of Rs 289.92 lakh followed by Rs 328.82 lakh at Chamba, Rs 984.24 lakh at Hamirpur, Rs 2,607.46 lakh in Kangra and Rs 1,552.45 lakh in Kullu district.

Besides, he said Kinnuar had received Rs 46.35 lakh investment, while Lahaul Spiti Rs 36.80 lakh, mandi 1,195.07 lakh, Rs 1,123.44 lakh in Shimla, Rs 23,866 lakh in Sirmaur, Rs 12,0951 lakh in Solan and Rs 13,286 lakh in Una district.
