No further hike in petrol, diesel prices: Deora

Chennai, Mar 7 (UNI) Union Petroleum Minister Murli Deora today assured that there would not be any further hike in the prices of petrol and diesel.

Talking to newspersons at the airport here, Mr Deora pointed out that prices of petrol, diesel and kerosene were ''very low'' in India compared to other countries in the world.

He said India was the only country to supply kerosene to poor people at Rs 9 per litre as it was ''fuel for the poor''.

Mr Deora hailed the recent budget presented by Finance Minister P Chidambaram, and added this was the first time, petrol and diesel prices were not hiked soon after the budget.

Asked whether there was any idea to reduce the price of LPG, the minister ruled out such possibility.

He said he was in the city to review the performance of the public sector oil companies.

CFM to set up engine maintenance Centre in Delhi

Bangalore, Mar 7 (UNI) CFM International, a joint company of aeroengine maker Snecma, today announced its proposal to open a fourth aircraft engine maintenance training school in New Delhi in 2010. More candidates in fray for AP Legislative Council polls

Hyderabad, Feb 27 (UNI) The total number of contesting candidates for the new state Legislative Council had increased to 404. According to an official release here, 280 candidates have filed thier nomination papers from eight Graduate constituencies, 68 in six teachers constituencies and 56 candidates for 21 Local Authority constituencies (LACs). Five final year law college students suspended

Chennai, Mar 7 (UNI) The Principal of Dr Ambedkar Government Law College here has suspended five final year students for allegedly thrashing junior students. Police said there was heated exchange of words between the seniors and junior students over conducting a cultural programme here recently, resulting in enmity.
