Modhwadia demands suspension of Modi and Amit Shah

Gandhinagar, Mar 7 (UNI) Leader of the Opposition in the Gujarat Assembly Arjun Modhwadia today demanded the suspension of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and Minister of State for Home Amit Shah for ''asking the police to get signatures on blank forms meant for asking the Legislative Assembly questions''.

The Opposition Leader requested Speaker Mangaldas Patel to suspend them as it was a serious violation of Article 194. He said this was an encroachment on special rights of legislators.

Mr Modhwadia said police had approached MLAs before the Budget session to sign on blank Assembly question forms. These forms which are submitted under rule 73, 74 and 75 of the Assembly, were to be used for asking ''positive'' questions in the House, he alleged.

Greenpeace demands budget allocation for turtle conservation

Bhubaneswar, Mar 7(UNI) In a bid to resolve the decade-old 'turtle- human conflict' along the Orissa coast, the Greenpeace, an organisation, today urged the Orissa government to make necessary budget allocation for turtle protection and compensation to the fishermen. Greenpeace Oceans campaigners Ashis Fernandes and Sanjiv Gopal told newsmen here that the conflict between 'turtle-fishermen' had assumed a critical situation in absence of any concrete action from the Orissa government. J'khand police engages full strength to gather leads on Mahto death

Ranchi, Mar 7 (UNI) With counter-insurgency operations intensified by neighbouring Orissa and West Bengal, Jharkhand police has also engaged full strength to gather evidence regarding killing of MP Sunil Mahto before the case is handed over to the CBI. Ranchi, Mar 7 (UNI) On its toes after the brutal killing of JMM MP Sunil Mahto by the Naxalites on March 4, the Jharkhand government is reviewing the secuirty measures for VIPs.
