Media roughed up by parents of rave party revellers

Pune, Mar 6 (UNI) Irate parents, relatives and friends of the rave party revellers today manhandled mediapersons, especially from the electronic media, who were trying to catch a glimpse of the six accused, including two girls, who were released from Yerwada jail after getting bail.

They damaged cameras of mediapersons but the police did not intervene.

The remaining persons will be released after completion of formalities tomorrow.

During the day, parents and relatives of the partygoers were seen completing formalities and furnishing a bond of Rs 15,000. The passports of some of the revellers have been impounded.

On Sunday, rural police had arrested around 280 rave party revellers for allegedly consuming drugs. Of the arrested, around seven have been remanded to police custody. The party revellers were given invites on a website and many came from different parts of the country. The involvement of an international drug syndicate is being investigated.

One more arrested for attack on BJP activist

Pune, Mar 6 (UNI) Police today arrested one more person in connection with the brutal attack on a local BJP leader, Shashikant Shitole. Shitole, an aspiring candidate for the upcoming zilla parishad elections, was attacked by assailants yesterday who had chopped off his hands. Police had arrested two persons -- Vijay Jagtap and Dhananjay Dore yesterday itself in connection with the attack. A third person, Amit Anil Pasaranikar (22), was arrested today. Meanwhile, Vijay Jagtap and Dhananjay Dore were produced before.....

Bomb hoax delays train

Surat, Mar 6 (UNI) An anonymous call claiming that a bomb had been planted in the Vadodara-Valsad Intercity Express, turned out to be hoax this evening. The railway police control room received the call following which the train was halted at the Surat railway station for an hour. A thorough search was conducted by sniffer dogs and the bomb disposal squad. But no suspicious objects were found and the train was allowed to proceed for Valsad at around 2200 hours......

Two members of Ravi Poojari gang arrested

Mumbai, Mar 6 (UNI) Two members of notorious Ravi Poojari gang have been arrested by the Ulhasnagar Police near Sahar Railway crossing in neighbouring Thane district. Police said acting on a tip-off that two members of Ravi Poojari gang would come near Sahar Railway crossing to loot a businessman from the locality, the cops laid a trap and nabbed the gangsters in the wee hours yesterday. They were identified as Santosh Mahadeo Jadhav (30), and Manoj Donkar Vichare (31)--.....
