JD (S) to contest 45 assembly seats in UP poll

Lucknow, Mar 7 (UNI) The breakaway group from former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda-led Janata Dal (Secular) today announced it would contest 45 seats in Uttar Pradesh assembly poll.

The faction, led by Surendra Mohan which claims to be the real JD(S), said the party will contest the UP poll in alliance with Jan Morcha, CPI and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP).

''We are the real secular party and will have truck with only those who care for the masses,'' he said here.

Appreciating the role of former PM V P Singh on his tirade against the SEZs, the JD(S) national president said SEZs will lead to unemployment in the country.

Clarifying his party's status after the split from Mr Gowda, he said as the former PM had supported BJP in Karnataka, he was not a secular person anymore.

Family planning isurance cover enhanced in Haryana

Chandigarh, Mar 7 (UNI) The Family Planning Insurance Scheme cover has been enhanced in Haryana. Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary (Health) Urvashi Gulati said coverage of insurance had been increased from Rs one lakh to Rs two lakh for death due to sterilisation in hospital or within seven days of discharge from the hospital. The cover had also been increased from Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000 for death within 8 to 30 days from the date of discharge from the.....

Medical community urged to find suitable vacacines for diseases

Chandigarh, Mar 7 (UNI) President A P J Abdul Kalam today called upon the medical community to find suitable vaccines for preventing some of the diseases in the country, particularly HIV/AIDS. One killed, two injured in Kashmir accidents

Srinagar, Mar 7 (UNI) One person was killed and two were injured in different road accidents in the Kashmir Valley today, a police spokesman said. He said Imtiyaz Ahmed Wani succumbed to his injuries in a hospital after he was critically wounded when slipped from a tractor at Arpat Shangus in south Kashmir district of Anantnag Two people were injured when their motorcycle and scooter collided at Tangah in the down town city.
