Govt sanctions Rs 448.91 crore for land development:Minister

Hyderabad, Mar 7 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Minister for Rural Development D Srinivas today informed the Assembly that the government had allocated Rs 448.91 crore to develop the lands assigned to the poor under the 'Indira Prabha' programme.

In a written reply to a question by Ch Rakeswara Rao, T Devender Goud (TDP) and other MLAs, the Minister said the amount would be spent to develop 3,78,690 acres of land assigned to 2,67,368 families.

NABARD was assisting the scheme since 2004-05, Mr Srinivas said and added the government had already released Rs 206.52 crore, out of which Rs 165.88 crore had been spent to develop 2,33,427 acres.

Govt committed to reservation for Muslims: Minister

Hyderabad, Mar 7 (UNI) Asserting that the Andhra Pradesh government would leave no stone unturned to overcome legal hurdles in providing reservation for Muslims in government jobs and education, State Backward Classes Welfare Minister D Srinivas today said no community would be excluded from the Backward Classes list. ''The government is sincerely striving to overcome legal problems, giving a free hand to an administrative team of legal experts to adopt appropriate strategies to clear the decks for reservation to Muslims,'' he.....

CFM to set up engine maintenance Centre in Delhi

Bangalore, Mar 7 (UNI) CFM International, a joint company of aeroengine maker Snecma, today announced its proposal to open a fourth aircraft engine maintenance training school in New Delhi in 2010. CFM International India Vice-President Paul Andre C Hevrin said in a statement here that once the facility was fully operational, it could train up to 500 engineers from India and other South Asian countries annually. More candidates in fray for AP Legislative Council polls

Hyderabad, Feb 27 (UNI) The total number of contesting candidates for the new state Legislative Council had increased to 404. According to an official release here, 280 candidates have filed thier nomination papers from eight Graduate constituencies, 68 in six teachers constituencies and 56 candidates for 21 Local Authority constituencies (LACs). Out of the above, one candidate in Kadapa, two in Anantapur and two in Krishna LACs, were declared elected. UNI.....
