Four lashker militants killed in north Kashmir

Srinagar, Mar 7 (UNI) Army killed four militants of Pakistan based Lashker-e- Toiba (LeT) in a three-hour-long encounter in north Kashmir today.

A defence ministry spokesman said this evening that troops of 21 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) received an information that some militants were hiding in Rajwar forest in the frontier district of Kupwara this afternoon.

When the area was being searched militants opened fire at 1630 hours. The fire was returned and in the three-hour-long clash four LeT militants were killed.

Four AK rifles and other arms and ammunition were recovered.

A massive search has been launched in the woods.

Tribunal Award does not protects Kerala's interest: Minister

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 7 (UNI) Kerala Water Resources Minister N K Premachandran today informed the Assembly that the Cauvery Tribunal's final award did not meet the state's interests, as it had not provided due share of water to the state. In a written reply he said the state had been awarded just 30 tmcft water by the Tribunal as against its contribution of 147 tmc ft to the Cauvery system. NREGP to be extended to 130 more districts

New Delhi, Mar 7 (UNI) The Centre today announced that the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA), a flagship programme of the ruling UPA, will be extended to 130 more districts, including 15 with incidents of farmers' suicide, during the current year. Rural Development Minister Raghuvansh Prasad Sing told the Lok Sabha during Zero Hour that the largest number of 17 districts would be from Uttar Pradesh.
