Five final year law college students suspended

Chennai, Mar 7 (UNI) The Principal of Dr Ambedkar Government Law College here has suspended five final year students for allegedly thrashing junior students.

Police said there was heated exchange of words between the seniors and junior students over conducting a cultural programme here recently, resulting in enmity. It was alleged that Elumalai and four others in the final year beat up a few law students studying in third and fourth year.

Based on the complaint from both the students group, the Prinicipal conducted a detailed inquiry over the incident and suspended five senior students yesterday, police added.

Steps taken to reduce mud contents in river Periyar

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 7 (UNI) With all possible steps taken to reduce the mud contents in river Periyar, there is no need for anxiety in this regard, the Kerala Assembly was told today. Replying to the notice for an adjournment motion sought to be moved by V D Satheesan of the Congress on the issue, river Resources Minister N K Premachandran said mud contents in Periyar water had come down considerably following increased inflow of waters due to resumption of power generation.....

Nine in fray for bypolls to two Nagaland seats

Kohima, Mar 2 (UNI) Altogether nine candidates are in the fray for the by-elections to two Assembly constituencies of Dimapur-I and Tuensang Sadar II, scheduled on March 8. Congress candidate A Heto V Yeptho, Nagaland Peoples Front (NPF) candidate Atomi, BJP candidate Kevise Angami, JD(U) candidate Limatemjen and Nagaland Democratic Party candidate Roland would contest from the Dimapur-I Assembly Constituency under Dimapur district. In Tuensang Sadar II, Congress candidate Kejong, NPF candidate Wongto and Independent candidates N Kaimang and Miss Rhakila.....
