Environment activist denounces cock-fight

Aizawl, Mar 7 (UNI) Environment activist New World Laldingliana has urged the law-enforcing agencies to stop cock-fighting.

After successfully preventing Sechhun, traditional spearing of Mithun, being staged at Chapchar Kut, the biggest community festival of Mizoram, Mr Laldingliana raised voice against this event.

Cock-fighting is conducted every Saturday at the Animal Husbandry&Veternary directorate complex at Khatla here and Mizos enjoy the fight.

''This is a shameful practice and violation of the law. Law enforcing agencies must stop this cruel practice,'' Mr Laldingliana said.
