Constable killed on poll duty

Gwalior, Mar 7 (UNI) A constable was today gunned down by his inebriated colleague while on election duty at Datia district's Softa village that falls within Gwalior parliamentary constituency where polling is scheduled tomorrow, the police said.

Datia's Superintendent of Police M K Mudgal suspended Head Constable Kedar Singh Kushwaha in this connection. The accused Suresh Kushwaha was arrested for murdering Constable Radhelal Jatav and his service rifle seized.

Head Constable Kedar and Suresh were drinking this evening at the house of the former's relative. Suresh went to Constable Jatav who was residing elsewhere in the village, entered a dispute and opened fire killing him on the spot.

A polling centre has been set up at Softa.

LC poll preparations complete

Visakhapatnam, Mar 15 (UNI) District Collector and Returning Officer A K Singhal today said all arrangements have been made for the Member of Legislative Council (MLC) elections from the graduates and techers constituencies here. Addressing mediapersons, he said 224 and 121 polling booths have been set up for the graduates and teachers constituencies, respectively and 42 in local bodies constituency in the districts, Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam. CEO calls for impartiality during Madurai bypoll
