Cold wave conditions prevail in several parts of the country

Pune, Mar 7 (UNI) Hot day conditions prevailed in Saurashtra. Day tempratures were apreciably above normal in some parts of Jammu and Kashmir and of Rayalseema and were above normal in south coastal Orissa,Uttaranchal,Konkan and Goa,south Madhya Maharahtra and south interior Karnataka and in some parts of south Tamil Nadu.

They were appreciably to markedly below normal in some parts of Assam and Meghalaya and Sikkim and were below normal in Jharkhand,Bihar,Uttar Pradesh,Haryana,Punjab,Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.They were normal over the rest of the country.

Cold wave conditions prevailed at isolated places in east Uttar Pradesh and of Haryana.Night tempratures were appreciably to markedly below normal in West Bengal and Sikkim,Orissa,Jharkhand, Bihar, Punjab, north Rajasthan,north Madhya Pradesh and in some parts of Assam and Meghalaya and in remaining parts of east Uttar Pradesh, and of Haryana and were below normal in Nagaland,Manipur,Mizoram,Tripura, north Chattisgarh,Uttaranchal,Jammu and Kashmir,southewest Rajasthan, southwest Madhya Pradesh and south coastal Karnataka.

They were appreciably above normal in Telangana and Rayalseema and were above normal in coastal Andhra Pradesh and coastal Karnataka. They were nromal over the rest of the country outside west Uttar Pradesh from where data were sparse.

Rain or thundershowers are likely to occure at isoated places in Arunachal Pradesh,Assam and Meghalaya,Nagaland,Manipur,Mizoram, Tripura, West Bengal and Sikkim,coastal Andhra Pradesh,Tamil Nadu, Kerala,Andman and Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep.Mainly dry weather will prevail over the Orissa,Jharkhand,Bihar,Gujrat State,Konkan and Goa,Madhya Maharashtra,Marathwada,Telangana,Rayalseema and Karnataka State.

Rain or thundershowers have occured at isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh,Assam and Meghalaya,sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.Mainly dry weather prevailed over the Nagaland,Manipur, Mizoram,Tripura,Gangetic West Bengal,Orissa,Jharkhand and Bihar.

Discovery India sends notice to Catholic Secular Forum

Asom for mini hydel-projects by private org

Guwahati, Mar 17:  Suffocating under acute shortage of power, Asom government has planned to promote setting up of mini-hydel power projects either by community or private organisations.Addressing a press conference, state power and industry minister Pradyut Bardoloi today said the state government had adopted 'Small Hydel Policy' thereby throwing open the field of small hydro power development to private enterprise.As per the polic, these projects with generation capacity upto 25 MW could be taken up anywhere in the state and up.....

Rane presents tax-free, people friendly budget in Assembly

Panaji, Mar 7 (UNI) Goa Chief Minister Pratapsingh Rane today presented tax-free, people friendly but Rs 752.64 crore deficit pre-election budget for 2007-08 in the State Legislative Assembly. Terming the budget as ''pro-commonman'' aimed at overall development of the island state, the Chief Minister claimed that the deficit would be mopped up by mobilising additional resources, revenue and better tax administration.
