Blue print underway for VIP protection in J'khand

Ranchi, Mar 7 (UNI) On its toes after the brutal killing of JMM MP Sunil Mahto by the Naxalites on March 4, the Jharkhand government is reviewing the secuirty measures for VIPs.

Mahto, MP from Jamshedpur, along with his two body guards and a local JMM leader, were killed by the Naxalites at Baguria village near Naxalite-affected Ghatshila in East Singhbhum district.

A special cell of state police is busy preparing a complete profile of all VIPs currently.

Official sources said the blue-print required for the purpose was also being prepared by the department and would be completed in couple of days.

A meeting of State Security Committee(SSC) has been convened soon to discuss the matter. The discussion on providing adequate security to the VIP's would mainly emerge during the meeting.

At present an MLA in state gets X-category protection cover whereas the ministers were provided with the Y-category security.

The Z-category security cover was given to VIPs who were on the ultras' target list.

Sources said the discussion over deployment of jawans from the security pool would also be done in the SSC meting.

The government had already given approval over the formation of the security pool which would consist of 3849 policemen including officers.

The sepoys of 18-25 years age would be deployed under the security pool and given additional allowances.

The VIPs would be also told to adopt preventive measures during visits to their constituencies.

IHCL to spend Rs 300 cr for building chain of hotels

Durgapur, Mar 7 (UNI) The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHLC) will invest Rs 300 crore in the next financial year for setting up a chain of hotels across the country, according to chief executive officer Prabhat Pani of Roots Corporation Ltd (RCL), a subsidiary of IHCL. Five-day Aahar 2007 and Nakshatra 2007 to begin from March 8

Prices of essential commodities still high in Kashmir

Srinagar, Mar 7 (UNI) The prices of majority of essential commodities in the Kashmir valley are higher than the government approved rates despite reopening of the Srinagar-Jammu national highway, which remained closed for ten days due to landslides and shooting stones.
