Blast convict allowed to make phone call from jail

Mumbai, Mar 7 (UNI) The designated TADA court today allowed blast convict Firoz Amani Malik to make phone call at his residence here from the Arthur Road jail, following his mother's illness.

TADA judge P D Kode granted the permission on an application moved by the convict's counsel Farhana Shah seeking court nod on humanitarian grounds.

The court, while granting permission, directed him to deposit a cash amount with the Registrar of the court and then make a phone call for maximum of five minutes only.

Malik was convicted by the TADA court for throwing a bomb at Mahim Fishermen Colony, resulting in death of two people and serious injuries to ten others.

He is at present languishing in jail after being convicted by the court.
