Air Force official arrested on bribery charges

Hyderabad, Mar 7 (UNI) Sleuths of CBI and Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) today registered a case against an airforce official, who was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a complainant.

According to an official release here, the sleuths arrested B Babu Rao, Personal Assistant to Air Officer Commanding at Air Force Station, Hakimpet and recovered the tainted amount from him.

The complainant was an employee of the Air Force Station against whom departmental proceedings has been initiated recently.

Babu Rao had demanded and accepted the bribe on behalf of other senior officials to get the complainant exonerated during the departmental proceedings, the release added.

400-year-old Quran seized from Kerala smuggler

Bangalore, Mar 7 (UNI) The CCB police today seized a 400-year-old copy of the Holy Quran, valued at Rs five crore, and a rare painting of Thanjavur King Sarfoji and arrested a smuggler from Kerala here. Police Commissioner N Achyuta Rao said the handwritten Quran, which had the signature of Moghul Emperor Aurangazeb in every page, was applied with different perfumes in each of its pages.
