4 charred in major fire, 70 hutment gutted

Unnao, Mar 7 (UNI) Four members of a family, including two girls, were charred to death and about 70 hutments reduced to ashes in a major fire here today.

Police said a 'bidi' butt caused the fire in a hut at around 1445 hrs at Khannapurwa village. The flames soon spread in the vicinity due to velocity winds killing four people on the spot.

The deceased were identified as Hariram (40), his son Rajesh and two daughters aged 12 and 6 years. The blaze was so powerful that the victims could not come out of their dwelling and were burnt alive.

Hariram's wife also sustained serious burns and was rushed to the hospital in a critical condition.

Property worth several lakhs was also gutted.

Later, senior officials reached the spot.

Four lashker militants killed in north Kashmir

Srinagar, Mar 7 (UNI) Army killed four militants of Pakistan based Lashker-e- Toiba (LeT) in a three-hour-long encounter in north Kashmir today. A defence ministry spokesman said this evening that troops of 21 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) received an information that some militants were hiding in Rajwar forest in the frontier district of Kupwara this afternoon. Air Deccan starts daily flights to Agartala, Bhubaneswar

Chennai, Mar 7 (UNI) Air-Deccan, the country's low cost airliner will operate daily flights from Chennai to Bhubhaneswar and to Agartala via Kolkata from March 26. Addressing a press conference here today, Chief Operating Officer Air Deccan Warwick Brady said a brand new 180 seater Airbus A-320 aircraft would be deployed to serve these routes, and booking for these flights was already open.
