37 seriously hurt as bus hits water tanker

Kancheepuram, Mar 7 (UNI) A state transport corporation bus hit a water tanker seriously injuring 37 people, including 16 women, at Maraimalainagar today.

According to police, the bus was proceeding to Tindivanam from Chennai when it hit the tanker lorry parked there for watering plants on the median on the Chennai-Tiruchirapalli Highway.

The injured were rushed to the Chengalpet Government Hospital for treatment. A search was on for the bus driver who was absconding.
