Women's Conference'07 kicks off tomorrow

Mumbai, Mar 6 (UNI) A conference on women empowerment will be held here tomorrow, ahead of the International Women's Day falling on March 8.

The aim of the fourth 'Women's Conference 2007' is to ''define and unleash the leader'' in the fairer sex.

The conference, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), is designed to help women discover the confidence and skills in them.

''It aims to treat women as if they were what they ought to be and help them become what they are capable of being,'' CII said in a statement.

The key speakers at the event include Sharwaree Gokhale, Principal Secretary, Environment, Maharashtra government, Ms Anu Aga, Chairperson, CII National Committee on Women Empowerment and Director Thermax Ltd, Dr Swati Piramal, Chairperson of Maharashtra State Council (CII) and Director Nicholas Piramal India Ltd.

Centre to set up mega power projects in AP, MP and Gujarat

Hyderabad, Feb 24 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Minister for Information, Public Relations and Energy Mohd Ali Shabbir today announced that the Centre had chosen Krishnapatnam to estlablish a 4,000 MW ultra mega power plant, apart from two others in Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. Record fruit production in Kupwara, 64 more hectares for orchards

Srinagar, Feb 25 (UNI) Under Horticulture Technology Mission, additional 64 hectares of land was brought under orchards in the frontier district of Kupwara, where 1.65 lakh metric tonnes of fruit production was recorded. An official spokesperson said that as many as 1.65 lakh metric tonnes of fruit production has been recorded in the district. It included 20,000 metric tons of dry fruit.
