Wild elephant tramples to death middle-aged man

Mysore, Mar 6 (UNI) A wild elephant trampled to death a 55-year-old man at Panchidodde in neighbouring Chamarajanagar district of Karnataka, today.

Police said Madaiah of Panchidodde was proceeding to the nearby village in M M Hills area when the pachyderm charged at him.

Forest officials said wild elephants were moving around the area in search of food and water spots.

It may be recalled here that only yesterday two 15-year-old wild jumbos had been electrocuted at Yalakkaru in that district.

Saffron brigade protests missionary work in Tirupati

Mysore, Mar 6 (UNI) Sangh Parivar activists today staged a day-long dharna against alleged activities of Christian missionaries in the famous Tirumala-Tirupati hill shrine in Andhra Pradesh. Six people killed in a road mishap near Koppal

Bangalore, Mar 6 (UNI) Six people were killed on the spot and two others injured when a fertiliser laden tractor, in which they were traveling, capsized near Koppal in North Karnataka. Police said that the victims were caught under fertiliser bags when the twin-trailers capsized after an axle broke. The mishap occurred on Kushtagi-Illkal State Highway near Venigiri cross last night. The victims belonged to Bidri village in Mudhol taluk of Bagalkot District.
