ULFA triggers fresh attacks in Asom

Guwahati, Mar 6 (UNI) A CRPF vehicle came under a bomb attack triggered by ULFA injuring three people, including two CRPF jawans as violence returned to Asom after a month of lull following the National Games.

''Two CRPF men and a civilian driver were injured yesterday when a remote controlled bomb exploded beneath their vehicle at Jorkata area,'' Dhemaji district Deputy Commission D N Mishra said over phone from Dhemaji.

Mr Mishra said the powerful bomb damaged a portion of the CRPF vehicle and created a huge crater. The injured were shifted to hospital and a combing operation had been launched, he said.

In another incident, rival factions of the Dima Halao Daogha (DHD) clashed, in which three Nepali villagers were killed at Diyung Mull area in North Cachar Hills.

Official sources confirmed security has been stepped up all across upper Asom.

The Asom government has sent in reinforcements to all the Upper Asom districts in view of intelligence inputs suggesting ULFA would strike again.

A powerful explosion occurred near the Doomdoma police station on Monday where an army unit was stationed. However, there was casulty.

All party meet on insurgency in Jharkhand within two days:Koda

Ranchi, Mar 6 (UNI) An all party meeting would be held within two days to discuss the spurt in naxalite activities in the wake of assassination of JMM general secretary and MP from Jamshedpur Sunil Mahto by ultras, Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda said today. Mr Koda told reporters here that the government was serious about finding a solution to the vexed problem for ''once and all''. Mr Koda refused to buy the opinion criticising his government's failure to ensure.....

Holi celebrations reach its peak in Manipur

Imphal, Mar 6 (UNI) Holi celebrations reached its peak here as the festivities entered the fourth day. Holi or Yaoshang( as termed in Manipuri) is celebrated in Manipur for full five days. Though all business and educational establishments remained closed, board examinations were conducted smoothly throughout the state today. The streets were converted to playgrounds as sports meet were organised in different parts of the state. Thabal Chongba (dance in the moonlit night) was also organised in every locality.....

Surrender policy to be reviewed: Koda

Jamshedpur, Mar 6 (UNI) Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda today said the surrender policy for the extremists would be reviewed soon as it was not effective to bring the rebels back to the mainstream. Talking to newspersons here Mr Koda, who came to attend the funeral of slain JMM MP and party general secretary Sunil Mahto, admitted that there were many shortcomings in the existing surrender policy and the government would go through it again and would make it more effective......
