Two BSP supporters killed in firing in UP

Lucknow, Mar 6 (UNI) Two Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supporters were killed and another critically injured when a clash led to firing during a Holi programme in Allahabad last night, police today said.

While Gyan Yadav died on the spot, Anu Yadav succumbed to his injuries at a hospital this morning.

Police said the firing took place following a dispute among some youths during Holi celebrations in Umarpur Nimah village under Dhoomanganj police station.

The youths are said to be the supporters of the late BSP MLA Raju Pal, who was also killed in a shooting in 2005. Umarpur Nimah is the native village of the slain legislator.

Yogesh, critically injured in the firing, was admitted to the SRN Hospital.

The assailants fled the village and police have launched a massive manhunt to nab them.

No change in personal income tax rates

New Delhi, Feb 28 (UNI) No changes have been made in the current slabs and rates of personal income tax in the Budget 2007-08. However, every assessee has been given a relief of Rs 1,000 by raising the threshold limit of exemption by Rs 10,000. Consequently, in the case of a woman assessee, the threshold limit has been raised to Rs 1,45,000 from Rs 1,35,000. In the case of a senior citizen, such limit has been raised from 1,85,000 to Rs.....

Detained Pak national arrested by Haryana police

Amritsar, Mar 6 (UNI) A detained Pakistani national was arrested by the Haryana Police and taken to Panipat for questioning in connection with the blasts on the Attari bound Samjautha Express last month. The Pak-national identified as Ajmal Ali was taken into custody by the Haryana Police yesterday evening on the orders of a local court. The Haryana Police after submitting the production warrants acquired from a Panipat court had contended before the local court that a criminal case was registered.....

Two held for attack on Raj minister

Jaipur, March 6 (UNI) Rajasthan home minister Gulab Chand Kataria today stated in state Assembly that two people have been arrested in connection with the attack on sports minister Yunus Khan. Mr Kataria said the police have arrested Rajendra Surpura and Laxmikant Bharadwaj of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and are looking for others. He said last night Mr Khan was visiting Sawai Mansingh Stadium where he met the Parishad members. Later the activists turned violent and attacked the minister and.....
