State Q branch police arrests a Srilankan national

Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu, Mar 6 (UNI) Sleuths of Tamil Nadu 'Q' branch police have arrested a Sri Lankan national, suspected to have links with the banned Sri Lankan Terrorists Organisation, the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), at Dheeran Nagar here tonight.

A senior Q branch police official told UNI that the state police who had secured Arulseelan (32) last night at his house, after conducting a surprise raid had handed over him to the Q branch police for further interrogation.

Arulseelan, a Sri Lankan Tamil, arrived in India in 2001 and lived in the Mandapam refugee camp and later moved to Dheeran Nagar. For the past four years he was living here along with his wife and daughter.

During the search in his house, Rs ten lakh in cash, a mobile phone and a motorcycle was seized by the police. He did not have proper accounts for possessing the huge sum, police added.

Police suspected that he might have played a mediator role facilitating transaction of funds to the LTTE for procuring arms. He would be produced before a judicial magistrate here late in the night, the police official added.

Six held for gambling at Jamnagar, booty worth Rs 2.26 lakh seized

Jamnagar, Mar 7 (UNI) The police have arrested 6 people for gambling in a raid carried out at the Jodhpur Upadhyay village, about 15 km from Kalyanpur, and seized a booty worth Rs 2.26 lakh. Police today said a team, led by Kalyanpur Police Sub Inspector (PSI) J K Pandya, raided the house of Kanabhai Meraman late last evening. In the raid, Meraman and five others were apprehended and Rs 46,000 cash seized from them. They also seized five motorcycles.....

5 more arrested in connection with Rave party

Pune, Mar 7 (UNI) Five more persons including two women were arrested today in connection with Sunday's Rave Party following disclosures by one of the main accused. The police recovered drugs worth Rs 50 lakh in the international market further pointing to the involvement of international drugs syndicate. HC directs to investigate all complaints regarding SRA
