Special pulse polio drive in AP on Mar 18

Hyderabad, Mar 6 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Health, Medical and Family Welfare Secretary Ramesh today said the government would organise a special pulse polio programme on March 18 in six districts of the state.

Addressing the press here, Mr Suresh said the 'Mop up pulse polio' programme would be taken up in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, West Godavari and Krishna Districts.

Total 15,414 booths and 513 mobile booths would be set up to administer polio drops covering 24 lakh children aged upto five years.

Rotarians conduct survey of polio cases

Visakhapatnam, Mar 7 (UNI) The Rotary International Presidents and office bearers today visited Pedajalaripeta area and conducted a survey of polio cases, as part of a rapid polio plus programme to be conducted in the city, in the third week of March. HIV/AIDS cases on increase in AP: UN AIDS estimate

Hyderabad, Mar 7 (UNI) India accounts for 51 lakh of 4.2 crore people living with HIV/AIDS in the world, of which about five lakh people are in Andhra Pradesh. In Andhra Pradesh, one of the six high prevalence states in the country, the inicidence has become a generalised epidemic as per the UNAIDS estimate.
