SP announces new candidate for Khurja

Lucknow, Mar 6 (UNI) The ruling Samajwadi Party (SP) today announced a change in the candidature from Khurja Assembly constituency of the Bulandshahr district.

Earlier, Suman Kumar Singh's name was announced by the party but now Virendra Pratap Singh Raghav will contest from 363-Khurja Assembly seat, SP general secretary and state PWD minister Shivpal Singh Yadav told mediapersons here.

The decision was taken by SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav.

The seven-phase Assembly polls would commence April 7, 2007.

Water levels decrease in major reservoirs

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 6 (UNI) Water levels of major reservoirs in Kerala have decreased during the past one week. According to the figures released by the Central Water Commission for the week ended March five, the water level at Idukki Reservoir decreased from 2360.04 ft to 2357.20 ft, at Idamalayar from 500.03 ft to 495.14 ft and at Kallada from 351.05 to 346.59 ft. When compared with the water levels recorded during the same period last year, Kallada, Idukki and Idamalayar reservoirs.....

About 50 dalits stage protest in temple town

Tirupati, Mar 6 (UNI) Fifty Dalits and villagers today staged a protest at a 'delimitation commission' hearing chaired by justice Kuldeep Singh here. District Collectors and officials from Rayalaseema and the Coastal districts of Nellore and Prakasam attended the meeting. The Dalits, who were from Nellore assembly constituency also staged a dharna in front of the auditorium and demanded that the commission must retain the Nellore assembly constituency as an SC constituency.
