Rajasthan Roadways to halve fares for women on March 8

Jaipur, March 6 (UNI) Rajasthan Roadways has decided to grant 50 per cent concession in fares to women and girls on the occasion of International Women's Day.

Roadways' managing director R P Jain said this concession would be applicable only on Women's Day on March 8.

Srinagar, Mar 6 (UNI) An eight-year-old boy was among two people killed and a girl was wounded while security forces arrested five militants, including a resident of Pakistan, in Jammu and Kashmir overnight. An official spoksman said militants hurled a hand grenade towards the house of one Ghulam Mohiuddin at Kushal Chatroo in Doda district of Jammu region late last night. Security tightened ahead of Prez's visit

Lucknow, Mar 6 (UNI) Security has been beefed up ahead of President A P J Abdul Kalam's visit to Uttar Pradesh on March 10. The President would visit the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) training academy at Ghaziabad on March 10 to participate in the para military force's raising day. UP Governor T V Rajeswar and Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil would also participate in the hour-long programme at the Indirapuram-based academy. EC warns UP govt against illegal use of beacons, hooters

Lucknow, Mar 6 (UNI) Election Commission today directed the Uttar Pradesh government for strict adherence to the Allahabad High Court order against the unauthorised use of beacon lights and hooters by vehicles in the state. In its directive, a copy of which was sent to the state election office tonighth here, the EC has said the HC order be striclty followed at any cost. Ramesh Inder is Punjab Chief Secretary

Chandigarh, Mar 6 (UNI) The Punjab government today formally announced the appointment of Mr Ramesh Inder Singh as state Chief Secretary. According to an official release, the new Chief Secretary will also hold charge of the departments of personnel, general administration, elections, vigilance, wildlife and power. Mr Singh who is on deputation with the Centre is expected to be repatriated shortly.
