Pondy ministerial staff to begin agitation Mar 8

Puducherry, Mar 6 (UNI) Ministerial staff here are all set to organise an agitation from March eight.

At meeting of the coordination committee of the ministerial staffs here yesterday, it was noticed even after one year, the government failed to implement the promises given to them and decided to organise the agitation.

To press their demands, including filling up of vacancies for UD clerical and superintendents posts, the minsterial staffs would organise a demonstration in front of the chief secretariat on the day, half-day leave and dharna on March 13 and work to rule agitation from March 15, according to Ministerial Staffs Association sources.

CPI (ML) fields Ravindra Bhuiyan in Palamu by-poll

Ranchi, Mar 7 (UNI) The CPI (ML) will field Mr Ravindra Bhuiyan in the Palamu Parliamentary seat by-election slated for March 29. Party state General Secretary Mr Subhendu Sen informed reporters today that Mr Bhuiyan would file his nomination on March 9. The CPI (ML) leader said the UPA and NDA were ''divided forces'' following inner party squabble ''which would be advantageous'' to their party nominee. The last date for filing nomination was fixed on March 10, scrutiny will take.....

All heavy vehicles in Kerala to be fitted with speed governors

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 6 (UNI) All heavy transport vehicles and stage-carriers in the state should be fixed with speed governors by April 15 in the wake of the Supreme Court direction. The vehicles should also be certified by the registering authority, State Transport Commissioner said in a release here. He said strong action would be taken against those who ply their vehicles without installing speed governors after April 15. Kerala had already faced much agitation over the installation of speed.....

Deceased people's names to be officially deleted from voters' list

Cooch Behar, Mar 7 (UNI) In a pilot effort, the names of the deceased people will be officially removed from the voters' list in Cooch Behar, State Chief Electoral Officer Debashis Sen has said. Mr Sen, who visited the district yesterday, said a foraml application must be made by the relatives or family members of the deceased. Accordingly in due time, the gram panchayat or the municipality will remove the names from the list. He had placed the issue before.....
