PACE opens centre in Bangalore

Bangalore, Mar 6 (UNI) Partners for Advancement of Collaborative Engineering Education (PACE) today launched automotive planning, design and engineering centre at PES Institute of Technology here.

The centre, first in India, a corporate initiative supported by General Motors (GM), EDS, Sun Microsystems and UGS, would set up a product lifecycle management (PLM) education program, which provides an organic connection between development, production and aftersales service stages of the product. Such programmes were widely being adopted by the world automotive industry.

General Motors Technical Centre-India (GMTC-I) would contribute to develop the automotive product lifecycle experts of the future.

Founded in 1999, PACE had supported 38 leading academic institutions around the world through computer-based engineering tools.

Ms Elaine Chapman Moore, Manager, GM Knowledge Centre - PACE, US, said the automotive industry had witnessed global collaboration and digital integration during the last one decade. India was a major partner for her company as the country had clearly pronounced its engineering capability. "The intention at PACE is to work towards digital integration of engineering system in the world," she said.

Agumbe records the lowest minimum temperature of 9.7 degree celsius

Bangalore, Mar 6 (UNI) Following is a summary of observations recorded by the weather office at 0830 hours today. Dry weather prevailed over the State. Maximum temperatures changed little over the State. They were above normal at a few places over Coastal Karnataka and were normal over Interior Karnataka. CPI(M) stages walkout over refusal to wathdraw GO

Hyderabad, Mar 15 (UNI) The CPI(M) today staged a walk out in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly protesting against government's refusal to withdraw a GO imposing ban on direct recruitment of teaching staff in Aided, Junior and Polytechnic colleges. Answering a short notice mention, Higher Education Minister Pinnamaneni Venkateswara Rao assured M A Gafoor (CPI-M) the government was taking steps to ensure the staff of aided institutions get salaries on the first of every month.
