Nitish express grief over killing of inspector

Patna, Mar 6 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today ordered a probe into the killing of Inspector Shashi Shekhar Singh.

Expressing deep sorrow over the killing he also condoled the sudden demise of a sub-divisional officer Arun Kumar of Sitamarhi.

The Chief Minister announced an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh to the kith of Mr Singh and said the affected family would be paid the salary in form of pension for the rest of the service period of the slain police officer. One of the family member would also get a government job, he added.

Two minor girls recovered from immoral traffickers

Barrackpore, West Bengal, Mar 06 (UNI) Police today recovered two minor girls from the clutches of immoral traffickers at Chakdah in Nadia district today. Two persons were also arrested from Kanchrapara railway station in this connection. Following a tip-off, two minor girls along with two other persons were intercepted at Kanchrapara, police said adding a pair of dancing costumes and some ordinary dresses were found from their possession.The girls were likely to be sold in Bihar, police informed. New weekly train between Ahmedabad-Patna

Ahmedabad, Feb 24 (UNI) The Western Railway (WR) has introduced a new weekly express train between Ahmedabad and Patna with effect from February 28. The train No 2947 Azimabad Express will commence its first journey from Ahmedabad on February 28 at 2125 hrs on every Wednesday and reach Patna at 0435 hrs on Friday. Andaman resort owner arrested for possessing drugs

Port Blair, Mar 6 (UNI) Police have arrested a resort owner in Havelock Island for possession of drugs. ''Our team has arrested one Viraj Singh Hooda, proprietor of Sanctuary Resorts, Wandoor and recovered Ganja and Charas. A case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act 1985 has been registered against him and further investigation is in progress,'' Superintendent of Police, Andaman, Jaspal Singh said today.
