LJP to field Umesh Paswan from Palamu LS seat

New Delhi, Mar 6 (UNI) The Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) has decided to put up Umesh Paswan as the party's candidate for the bypolls to the Palamu (Reserved) Parliamentary constituency in Jharkhand.

Mr Paswan will file his nomination on March 10, a party release issued here today said.

EC meets Chief Electoral Officer UP regarding fair polls in state

New Delhi, Mar 6 (UNI) The Election Commission today had a detailed meeting with the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Uttar Pradesh Anuj Kumar Bishnoi for over one hour regarding the holding of free and fair elections in the state. The EC had earlier summoned the CEO in the wake of large number of complants from political parties, non-governmental organisations and individuals expressing fear that it would not be possible to conduct free and fair elections in the state if polls.....

Lucknow, Mar 6 (UNI) A group of Muslim and Dalit parties in Uttar Pradesh today announced the launch of a forum to contest the forthcoming assembly elections. Congress bags mayorship of Jammu

Jammu, Mar 6 (UNI) In a close battle for Mayorship, Congress candidate Narinder Singh today defeated his BJP rival Kavinder Gupta in the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) election. Mr Singh bagged 39 votes while Mr Gupta, former Mayor got 32. Meanwhile, National Conference candidate Dharamveer Jamwal defeated the independent candidate Ms Neerja Khajuria in the fight for the Deputy Mayor's post. Ms Khajuria, who was supported by BJP, got only 27 votes while Mr Jamwal bagged 44. The election reportedly.....
