Letter of Acceptance issued for two highways projects in T'Nadu

New Delhi, Mar 6 (UNI) The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has issued Letters of Acceptance (LoAs) for two projects for development of National Highways sections in Tamil Nadu under Phase-IIIA of the National Highways Development Project (NHDP).

The design, engineering, finance, construction, operation and maintenance of these packages, covering a total length of 118 km, would be carried out on the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) basis.

The concession period for these packages is 30 years, including construction period of 30 months each.

For the 38.61-km-long Pondicherry-Tindivanam section, the project cost will be Rs 285 crore. It has been bagged by Maytas-NCC Consortium.

The 79.70-km-long Trichy-Karur Section, bagged by Reliance Energy Limited, will be developed at a cost of Rs 516 crore.

MP urges restoration of Bangalore-Mangalore port

New Delhi, Mar 6 (UNI) Congress MP Mr B K Hariprasad today urged the government to restore Bangalore-Mangalore port under Golden Quadrilateral scheme by the National Highway Authority of India, besides regulating overladen vehicles transporting ores from Bellary. Polling stations set up for MLC polls

Tirupati, Mar 1 (UNI) As many as 101 polling stations in Prakasam, 81 in Nellore and 116 in Chittoor district have been set up for graduate voters while for the teachers constituency 21 polling stations in Prakasam, 48 in Nellore and 70 in Chittoor would be set up for casting votes in the MLC polls, commencing on March 17. New book brings to light unknown facts of 1857 freedom struggle

New Delhi, Mar 6 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today released a book titled 'Delhi Kranti Ke 150 Varsh' written by a journalist Aditya Awasthi. The book, published by Samayeek Prakashan, presented a picture of 19th century Delhi and unveils certain unknown facts relating to India's first freedom struggle of 1857.
