Judicial custody of Ravindra Kantrole extended till Mar 20

Mumbai, Mar 6 (UNI) A local court today extended till March 20, the judicial custody of Ravindra Kantrole, suspected serial killer in Azad Maidan murder case.

Kantrole was produced before Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate M H Belose, who ordered the extension of the judicial custody.

Earlier, Kantrole was arrested on January 22 on charges of house breaking and later he was booked for the murder.

During the investigation, police claimed that they had recovered blood stained clothes and the weapon, he allegedly used for committing murders, from him.

Seven cases of murder using a similar modus operandi were registered in the metropolis between October 2006 and January 2007.

A Narco Analysis of Kantrole was conducted at Bangalore recently.

Court rejects Navy War Room leak accused plea for 'in-camera' tria

New Delhi, Mar 6 (UNI) A local court today rejected the appeal by one of the accused in the Navy War Room leak case that all court proceedings be carried out 'in-camera'. Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Seema Maini rejected his appeal after it was put before her court today. Last week, accused Abhishek Verma, son of Congress leader Srikant Verma, had filed an application in the court that all court proceedings in the Navy War Room leak case be carried out 'in-camera'......

Police investigation ordered into land encroachment by Imam Bukhar

New Delhi, Mar 6 (UNI) A local court today ordered a police enquiry over alleged encroachment of MCD and DDA 'green area' land encroachment by Jama Masjid caretaker Syed Imam Bukhari. The report of the investigation, to be carried out by the area SHO, has to be submitted by May 1, said the court. The direction, under section 202 of the Cr PC, came following a PIL filed by social worker Arshad Ali Fehme in 2004 alleging the Bukhari had encroached.....

Substantial increase in allocation to civil aviation

New Delhi, Feb 28 (UNI) The Union Budget today proposed substantial increase in allocation for government-owned airlines. The total allocation for all public sector enterprises under the civil aviation ministry including Air India, Indian and Airports Authority of India rose from Rs 2,256.36 crore to Rs 12,192.09 crore. Most of it is meant for fleet acquisition plans of the two carriers. UNI.....
