IT training for government officials in J

Srinagar, Mar 6 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir government has earmarked Rs one crore for the training of Kashmir Administrative Service (KAS) officers in Information Technology and Computer Science.

The officers would be sent to reputed institutions of the country for short duration training courses to upgrade their skill and knowledge.

This information was given by the Director General Institute of Management, Public Administration and Rural Development (IMPA), Khurshid Ahmad Ganai, who is also Principal Secretary, General Administration Department, during a review meeting with the faculty and officers of the Institute here today.

He said the IMPA will set up faculty of Information Technology and Computer Science to conduct regular training courses for officials of the State Government and promote IT and computer application in administration.

A proposal to this effect would be placed before the IMPA Executive Council, the apex decision making body of the Institute headed by the Chief Minister.

He said currently, the Institute runs seven faculties including rural development, social science, industrial management, financial management, public administration, communication and behavioural science and disaster management.

''The Institute will also have to re-look at its priorities and design training courses for officials to plug in weaknesses in the administration'', he said.

Rajasthan, ITC to develop watershed project

Jaipur, Mar 6 (UNI) In a first ever public-private initative, Rajasthan has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ITC for development of a watershed project.
