Inspector shot dead in Bihar

Biharsharif, Mar 6 (UNI) Inspector Shekhar Singh posted at Asthawan police station was shot dead by armed criminals at Biharsharif in Nalanda district late last night.

According to police the criminals opened fire at Mr Singh near the railway crossing in Biharsharif when he was on way to the police station from his residence.Mr Singh died on the spot.

Raids were on to nab the criminals.

Imphal, Feb 24 (UNI) Indian Medical Association (IMA) president A Vivekananda has appealed to the Joint Action Committee (JAC), formed by the family members of a woman who died on February 19 at RIMS, to call off their strike. The IMA president also urged Regional Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) doctors to resume their services, which they closed down after two female doctors were allegly assaulted by the public. The JAC had called a general strike and is now threatening.....

Three persons nabbed with arms

Shillong, Mar 6(UNI) Meghalaya police yesterday arrested three persons for possessing a country made revolver and one .22 ammunition. The trio, P Kharumnuid, J Marbaniang and B Kharir, were arrested while they were travelling in a local vehicle, police said here today. Police said three people had been booked under the Arms Act. Imphal, Feb 24 (UNI) Manipur experienced a pleasant weather today as the minimum temperature rose to eight degree Celsius. Maximum temperature of 25.6 degree Celcius was recorded, MET sources said. Humidity in air remained at 71 per cent throughout the day with no rainfall, sources said. UNI.....

Gang of auto-lifters busted in North West Delhi

New Delhi, Mar 6 (UNI) Police have busted a gang of auto-lifters with the arrest of a man from North-West Delhi and recovered six stolen vehicles. Ashok Kumar (26) was arrested from Sarawati Vihar on March 4 while he was trying to flee. Police have worked out six cases and recovered six vehicles from him. During interrogation he revealed that he was part of a gang which operated in Delhi. Further investigations are in progress. UNI.....

Netaji's driver finally gets govt accommodation

Port Blair, Feb 24 (UNI) Member of the erstwhile Indian National Army (INA) Pratap Singh, who was appointed as Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose's driver in Germany during World War II, was today allotted government accommodation here by the state administration. Lt Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands Lt General (Retd) Bhopinder Singh had allotted him a Type II government quarter in recognition to Mr Singh's service to the country.
