Indonesian Naval ship visits Andaman

Port Blair, Mar 6 (UNI) An Indonesian Naval Ship 'KRI Iman Banjol' along with an aircraft 'Nomad P841 (MPA)' has arrived in Port Blair for the ninth cycle of coordinated patrol with the Indian Navy, command sources said today.

After arriving here Captain Desai Albert Mamahit, Assistant Operations Officer, Welstern Fleet Command of Indonesian Navy and Lt Commander Agung Jaya Sakti, the Commanding Officer, KRI Iman Banjol, along with other senior officers called on Air Marshal P P Rajkumar, the Commander-in-Chief, Andaman and Nicobar Command.

They discussed modalities to conduct the ninth cycle of coordinated patrol and bilateral issues, the sources of Andaman and Nicobar Command said.

Later the officer of the visiting foreign ship participated in the traditional opening ceremony held at Naval Jetty of Port Blair.

The purpose of the coordinated patrol is to prevent smuggling, piracy, drug trafficking and illegal fishing.

During the month-long patrol, ships and aircraft of both the navies will jointly patrol their respective areas around the International Maritime Boundary line, the sources added.

Pisciculture opening up new employment venues in Arunachal

Itanagar, Mar 2 (UNI) A hatchery unit has been set up at Iduli Fish Seed Farm in Lower Dibang Valley district, with support from Uttarakhand-based Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR) on Cold Water Fisheries, to boost pisciculture at high altitudes and create new venues for employment in Arunachal Pradesh. The farm which is the first of its kind in the state is located 21 km away from here in Roing, the district headquarters. Aimed at artificial breeding of Chocolate Mahseer.....

Governor, CM condole death of Naga jawans

Kohima, Mar 2 (UNI) Governor K Sankaranarayanan has condoled the death of four Naga Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) jawans in Chhattisgarh in a mine explosion yesterday. In a condolence message, the Governor conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families of jawans B Limawati Walling, T Ngheo Lotha, Chumuki Sangtam and Mayangchiba Walling, whose supreme sacrifice, he said, will be remembered with respect and gratitude. Naval Chief on his maiden visit to Andaman and Nicobar Command

Kolkata, Mar 8 (UNI)Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Suresh Mehta arrived in Port Blair today on a two-day maiden visit to Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Accompanied by his wife, Admiral Mehta was received at the airport by Air Marshal P P Rajkumar, Commander-in-chief, Andaman and Nicobar Command and Mrs Indira Rajkumar. On his arrival, Admiral Mehta was presented with the Inter-Services Guard of Honour at Naval Air Station, INS Utkrosh. The Naval Chief is visiting the Command for the first time.....
