HP to double retail outlets in India,increase notebook marketshare

Kolkata, Mar 6(UNI) Hewlett-Packard India will double the number of retail outlets, "HP World", in India from 160 to 300 to increase the market share of PCs and Notebooks.

Speaking at a press conference here today, Hewlett-Packard India Country Consumer Sales Manager Nitin Hiranandani said,''We aim to increase the market share of HP Pavilion segment sales from 35 per cent to 40.5 per cent.'' HP sells high-end notebook and personal computers under Pavilion, a flagship brand, in the consumer segment. While Compaq Presario, which is also under HP brand, with 19.5 per cent markets share, has low-range products under its fold. Compaq and HP had merged in 2005.

Mr Hiranandani said, ''We will also increase the market share of commercial desktops from 16.7 per cent to 25 per cent.'' The company today launched additional features in its notebooks and PCs, which include "twist and touch" screen in HP Pavilion tx1000 notebook and personal media drive with additional storage capacity of 80 to 120 GB. The launch of this new series was targetted to strengthen the market leadership of the HP Pavilion brand.

Sensex opens firm at 12,972.90 points, up by 275 pts

Mumbai, Mar 7 (UNI) The 30 scrips of the BSE Sensex today resumed positive at 12,972.90 points with a massive gain of around 275 from its last close of 12,697.09 points on sustained heavy speculative demand from FIIs and Mutual funds in view of firm advice from Asian markets, brokers said. Mcorp Global bags BPO order from Indian Railways

Mumbai, Mar 7 (UNI) Mcorp Global has bagged an order from the Indian Railways to provide the value-added business process outsourcing (BPO) services to railway passengers.
