Gulf Air records impressive growth

Mumbai, Mar 6 (UNI) Gulf Air has seen a dramatic increase in its premium class booking during the second half of 2006, with some impressive sales figures already showing up for 2007 as well.

The airline has seen nearly four per cent growth in Business Class passenger segment in the second half of 2006 over the same period in 2005 with over 2,09,000 passengers choosing to fly Gulf Air Business Class, a release issued by Gulf Air said.

The airline has already registered a three per cent growth in January 2007 and an impressive 8.5 per cent growth in the first fourteen days of February compared to the corresponding period.

Overall, the airline has already seen 4.5 per cent more Business Class passengers travelling since the beginning of 2007, compared to the same period in 2006.

''This is quite a remarkable achievement that reflects passengers' growing faith in Gulf Air for premium air travel experience,'' says Gulf Air Vice President Sales and Marketing Lee Shave.

Perfume manufacturing unit damaged

Agartala, Mar 6 (UNI) A perfume oil manufacturing unit at Bodhjungnagar industrial growth centre here has been gutted by a devasting fire last evening. Official sources said the fire was caused by a short circuit. The preliminary estimate of loss was put at around Rs one crore, sources added. Tripura PDS captures 3rd position in the nation

Agartala, Mar 6 (UNI) Tripura has captured the third and top position in the country and NE region respectively in the field of Public Distribution System (PDS) through ration shops. In neighbouring Asom, Mizoram and Meghalaya there is no PDS and the respective governments have given the responsiblity to the agencies, state Food Minister Gopal Das claimed. Cheaper mutton, chicken bring down inflation to 6.63 pc

New Delhi, Feb 25 (UNI) The government's proactive role to curb the swelling price rise has brought the inflation rate slightly down to 6.63 per cent for the week ended February 10, from a two-year high of 6.73 per cent in the previous week. The decrease has been attributed to cheaper food articles like mutton, chicken, condiments and spices. The annual inflation rate calculated on point-to-point basis was 3.81 per cent during the corresponding week of the previous year, official.....
