Gujarat Govt transfers Five IAS officers

Gandhinagar, Mar 6 (UNI) The Gujarat government today transferred five officers of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) within the various departments of the state.

According to sources, Joint Managing Director of Tourism Corporation of Gujarat N P Thaker is transferred to Dahod as District Development Officer, A J Shah, Joint Commissionr (Planning), Vadodara is transferred as District Development Officer, Ahmedabad.

B C Chowdhary, Presently joint secretary to health and family welfare department at Gandhinagar is transferred to Women and Child Development Department as Member-Secretary in the Gujarat State Women Commission.

Ms P S Mevadia, Member Secretary in the Gujarat State Women Commission is posted as Deputy Secretary to Health and Family Welfare Department at Gandhinagar while J R Modi, Joint Secretary to Science and Technology department is transferred to Food, Civil Supplies and consumer affairs department at Gandhinagar as Joint Secretary.

Earlier on Saturday, Government had transferred 31 IAS officers including seven district collectors and District Development officers to various state departments, sources said.

Madan Bhargad elected Mayor in AMC

Akola, Mar 6 (UNI) The newly elected Congress corporator and city Congress chief Madan Bhargad was today elected Mayor of Akola Municipal Corporation (AMC), defeating former BJP Mayor Sumantai Gawande by a margin of 25 votes. In the 71 member Akola Municipal Corporation, Bhargad secured 43 votes while his BJP rival Mrs Gawande got 18 votes, while the 10 member BRP-BMS group remained neutral. Nikhilesh Divekar, newly elected NCP corporator and son of late Arun Divekar, former minister, was elected Deputy.....

Junior doctors in NCH on strike on second day

Surat, Mar 6 (UNI) The Junior Doctors Association continued their strike for the second day today at the New Civil Hospital, over alleged assault of their colleague from the radiology department by relatives of a patient there, authorities said. The striking doctors met Hospital Superintendent M K Wadel and asked him to provide security cover to them, hospital sources said. The agitating doctors have alleged that such incidents have become a regular occurrence and the hospital authorities are not willing to.....

Police arrests 5 dacoits in Sangli

Sangli, Maharashtra, Mar 6 (UNI) Five dacoits, who had robbed house of Dr Bapusaheb Patil at Miraj tehsil, were today arrested by rural police. Miraj rural police recovered gold ornaments from them and arrested Ramesh Naik from Kapoli, Belgaum district, Navshad Inamdar, Namdev Chavan, Deepak Pandurang Dongade all three from Miraj and Madhu alias Govind Kale from Jat tehsil of this district, police said. On January 18, 2007, dacoits attacked the house of Dr Patil (60) at Mhaishal in Miraj tehsil.....
