French woman commits suicide in South Delhi

New Delhi, Mar 6 (UNI) A 40-year-old French woman, married to an Indian, committed suicide in her South Delhi home here today.

Police said Anna Fatalgo, widowed almost a year ago, was found dead in her East Nizamuddin house at about 1700 hrs.

She had consumed some poisonous substance in the afternoon as she was depressed after her husband's death, it added.

Police found a suicide note which said she was taking the extreme step under depression.

Further investigations are in progress.

Absconding rape convict arrested

Kota, Mar 6 (UNI) A rape convict, who escaped from the central prison here in November last, has been arrested by the police in Jhalawar district. According to the police, the convict, Prince, was serving a life term at the Kota Central Jail. Pleading illness, he got admitted at the prisoner's ward in MBS Hospital on November 26. He fled from the prison by pushing the guard posted at the ward gate. According to police sources, Prince was staying with another.....

HR violators will have to face law of the land: CM

Kokernag, South Kashmir, Mar 6 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has said security forces and police personnel found involved in the killing of innocent persons or violating other Human Rights (HR) in the name of fighting militancy will have to face the law of the land. The Chief Minister was speaking at a function here yesterday after distributing ex-gratia relief cheques of Rupees one lakh each and appointment order to the next of kin of those killed.....

No change in personal income tax rates

New Delhi, Feb 28 (UNI) No changes have been made in the current slabs and rates of personal income tax in the Budget 2007-08. However, every assessee has been given a relief of Rs 1,000 by raising the threshold limit of exemption by Rs 10,000. Consequently, in the case of a woman assessee, the threshold limit has been raised to Rs 1,45,000 from Rs 1,35,000. In the case of a senior citizen, such limit has been raised from 1,85,000 to Rs.....
