Counseller set on fire by patient

Jabalpur, Mar 6 (UNI) A medical counsellor suffered severe burns after he was set on fire by a suspected AIDS patient at the medical college hospital here today.

Police said counsellor Sanjay Shrivastava, who suffered 80 percent burns, was being treated at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College hospital and his condition was serious.

A suspected AIDS patient Kaushal Kishore Jaiswal, a resident of Sidhi district, was undergoing counselling at the hospital for about a year. Enraged on a trivial issue during counselling this afternoon, Jaiswal doused the counsellor with kerosene and set him ablaze.

Police launched a drive in search of absconding accused, Additional Superintendent of Police Manohar Varma said.

10 killed, 30 injured in accident near Chandrapur

Nagpur, Mar 6 (UNI) At least 10 people were killed and over 30 injured when a van, they were travelling in, overturned and fell into a gorge near Marai Patan in Jivti tehsil of Chandrapur district of Vidarbha region today. According to police, the accident occurred when the driver lost control on the vehicle. The victims were yet to be identified and details were awaited, the Chandrapur police control room said. Power shortage will not be severe during summer: Deshmukh

Nagpur, Mar 6 (UNI) Seeking to put at rest fears of prolonged load-shedding in the state during the summer months this year, Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh today said the power shortage would ease in the coming weeks with the generation expected to increase by 1,200 Mega Watt (MW) by next month and another 700 MW by the end of the year. Mr Deshmukh told reporters here, the two new units of 250 MW each, at the thermal power stations at Paras.....
