Bandh observed in South Bengal protesting Mahto's killing

Bankura, March 06 (UNI) A 12-hour bandh, called by the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) protesting against the killing of JMM MP Sunil Mahto, passed off peacefully in Bankura, Purulia and Burdwan districts of South Bengal today.

There was no report of any untoward incidents so far, police said.

Private buses did not ply and security has been tightened in bordering areas of South Bengal districts and Jharkhand.

A silent procession led by Mr.Ajit Prosad Mahto, president of West Bengal State JMM committee, walked through the streets of Purulia condemning the murder, police added.

FIMI urges govt to repeal cess on iron ore export

New Delhi, Mar 6 (UNI) Federation of Indian Mineral Industries (FIMI) has urged the Governemnt to repeal the cess imposed on the export of iron ore in the budget proposals for 2007-08 without further delay. Addressing newsmen here today, FIMI's Senior Vice President Rahul N Baldhota said that it would adversely affect the working of all those miners who were in the business of iron ore. He said the Finance Ministry has imposed this cess of Rs 300 per tonne on.....

IOC raises $250mln to fund crude import

New Delhi, Mar 6 (UNI) Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has signed loan agreements to raise foreign currency loans worth 250 million dollars to meet its oil import requirements. The agreements for 250 million dollar loan facility at highly competitive rates, comprising 200 million dollar from Singapore-based Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA) and 50 million dollar from Mizuho Corporate Bank were signed yesterday to Hong Kong. It is for the first time that the company has entered into an agreement with BBVA.....
